Sun Valley Trip

Time to do a little catch-up. Sam and I went to see Jeremy and Trisha in Sun Valley (Ketchum), Idaho, over the 4th of July. It was wonderful to make it up there one last time before the big move to Boston. We enjoyed it so much there that we actually had to ask ourselves "are we doing the right thing? Should we just move to Ketchum and forget about school?" The lifestyle in Ketchum is just soooo amazing. There's no need for a car. We parked our car when we arrived, and didn't touch it again until we left. We just cruised around town on our bikes, with everyone in town waving and saying hi to Jeremy (I think he's popular in town). We spent our time mountain biking, hiking, watching fireworks, going to a street concert, playing croquet, and otherwise just chilling on Jeremy's porch while he played guitar and Trisha played a mandolin.

Our first day there, we all went for a bike ride out Jeremy's back door and through Adam's Gulch. The initial climb up the hill just about killed Sam and I as we watched Jeremy and Trisha cruise to the top effortlessly. Once we got to the top, it was a beautiful ride as we cruised through the thick pine forest in Adam's Gulch. It was interesting to see the damage from the 2007 fires. The areas burned in Adam's Gulch were really spotty, and not too badly burned (although if you head up Warm Springs Rd outside of town it's burnt to a crisp).

At one point, Trisha showed up Jeremy by riding across a narrow board over the stream. It took Jeremy several tries, but he finally managed it.

Now the question is... should Sam and I take our bikes to Boston? We know it would be fun to explore the Northeast by mountain biking, but it might be a bit difficult fitting them into our 450 sq. ft. apartment.

The next day, since our butts were sore from biking, we went for a hike up the Proctor trail. We saw lots of beautiful flowers, and a good overlook of Sun Valley with the ski resort in the background. It was a bit hot though, and the heat on the trail was burning Moxy's toes (Trisha's dog). Every chance she got she would try to hide under some shade or dunk herself in some water. Well, here's a few more pics from the hike:

5 Months Later....

I told you we wouldn't update this very often. It only took us 5 months to put a second post on here. We have high hopes to update more often, especially as we start our new lives in Boston.
